String Break is an Americana cover band playing a wide range of songs from the worlds of bluegrass, country, pop, folk, and rock. Our goal is to put our stamp on the original but also guarantee that you can dance and sing along. Samples of our music are on our Playlist page.

Where will String Break perform?

String Break is a Durham, NC-based group. We perform regularly around the NC Triangle. Upcoming gigs are on our Events page. We have performed at breweries, wineries, meaderies, community events, private clubs, weddings, and neighborhood gatherings.

String Break features: Hank Alinger on lead guitar, Bob Burton on harmonica and vocals, Andy Nilssen on bass and vocals, Allen Ramsier on percussion, Mike Recane on rhythm and lead guitar, Bernie Price on banjo and vocals, and Mark Traphagen on mandolin and vocals. Occasionally joining on autoharp and vocals is String Break founder Mike Hensen.
